Tradescantia Wandering Jew
Tradescantia, also known as Spiderwort is native to the area stretching from southern Canada to northern Argentina. There are a number of species in the genus grown and collected both as a landscape and house plants. The ease at which this plant propagates through cuttings earned it another common name, but many in the plant community abstain from using it due to its cultural insensitivity. You may see this plant referred to as Wandering Dude instead.
Whatever you call it, the brightly colored foliage and easy of care have earned Tradescantia a spot in the houseplant hall of fame. These large hanging baskets make quite a statement whether suspended or nestled in a decorative pot with the hanger removed.
Care Instructions: Bright indirect light is best, but can handle some direct sun, water when top couple inches of well-draining potting mix is dry.
Pet Safe? Some varieties may be mildly toxic. Discretion is advised around pets and small children.
